Kirichenko, V.V. Butkov This outline is devoted to a description of the combat path of a famous tanker and a commander of the Insterburgskogo Red I-Panzer Corps Vasily Vasilievich Butkov. The Battle of Stalingrad (the breakthrough of the outer ring of defense), the Rzhevsko-Vyazemskaya battle, the battle of Kursk (or the Orlov operation), the Baltics, the East Prussia, the takeover of Koenigsberg and battles on the Samland Peninsula are the major milestones of Tank Corps path and her commander. The outline shows a number of examples proving heroic feat of arms by the soldiers of the corps, among whom 37 were delighted to become the Heroes of Soviet Union.
