FOREIGN INVESTMENT IN THE RUSSIAN
OIL INDUSTRY (1880s–1910s) |

The impact of foreign investment on the development of the oil industry in Russia in the late XIX–early XX centuries is considered in
this article. The most information deal with the characterization of activity of oil companies included British and French capital, forms and
methods of their participation in the production of oil resources. It is demonstrated the data refl ecting the process of monopolization of the
domestic oil industry. In the result before The First World War Russian oil market came under control of three major international groups under
the auspices of «Branobel», «Royal Dutch Shell» and «Russian General Oil Corporation».
