Kurbatov The article is devoted to the study of the far Eastern region of Russia in the late XIX–early XX centuries In the article the problems of political, socio - economic and religious development of the Far East. Talk about the real situation and the state of Affairs in the region of the study period in the development of the territory. The article presents the problems faced by the clergy in the spread of Orthodoxy in the far East in the late XIX–early XX centuries. The work of Bishop Evsevy (Nikolsky), who played an exceptional role in the initial arrangement of the Vladivostok diocese, is shown. The author comes to the conclusion that the Orthodox Church in the far East, despite all the diffi culties: political, financial and internal Church, managed to choose a strategic direction of its development, focusing primarily on the issue of religious education of the inhabitants of the region, both local and immigrants.
