Universal History Annotation << Back FSUE SIMS: YEARS, PEOPLE, STONES. CONTRIBUTION TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE DEVELOPMENT OF MINERAL RAW MATERIALS IN THE COUNTRIES OF THE SOCIALIST CAMP V.M. Borodanov All-Russian (formerly All-Union) Research Institute of Mineral Raw Materials. N.M. Fedorovsky (VIMS) is a federal state unitary enterprise subordinate to the Federal Subsoil Use Agency of the Russian Federation. The main objectives of the institute: the study of the mineral resource base of the country; scientifi c and methodological support of work on the forecast, prospecting and comprehensive assessment of uranium, alloying, non-ferrous and rare metals; problem solving of genetic mineralogy, as well as analysis and technology of mineral raw materials. The leaders of the institute in different years were: – V.V. Arshinov (1904–1923), N.M. Fedorovskiy (1923–1937), – M.A. Usov (1938–1939), N.A. Sirin (1940–1943), – I.V. Shmanenkov (1943–1949), A.D. Ershov (1949–1962), – G.C. Momdji (1962–1970), A.H. Yeremeyev (1970–1997), – currently ga Mashkovtsev (1997–…). The author has worked for more than forty years at this institute and has gone from being a technician geologist to a senior researcher, and at the end of the way he got the idea to share his impressions of what he saw.
