DEVELOPMENT OF THE REVOLUTIONARY PROCESS IN KABARDA: INTERNAL PREREQUISITES AND EXTERNAL FACTORS |
O.A. Zhansitov
The article discusses the development of a revolutionary situation in Kabarda in the context of the involvement of the North Caucasus region in the all-Russian process of social and political transformations of 1917-1920.Indicates internal and external revolutionizing factors. In the first case, we are talking about contradictions between large private owners and small owners on the basis of land disputes, rivalry between the nobility and the clergy strengthening their positions for influence among the people, egalitarian ambitions of the peasantry. In the second, about the attempts of the Soviet authorities to translate these contradictions into the format of acute social conflicts and thereby involve Kabarda in the revolutionary processes in the country. Attention is paid to the activities of the Kabardian clergy, who in their struggle for power, on the one hand, tried to enlist the support of the Bolsheviks, on the other, they themselves became the object of manipulation of the latter. It also considers the position of the national democratic intelligentsia, which does not fit into the prevailing trends of that period, declaring Kabarda a neutral party in the civil war that has broken out in the region.
Keywords: revolution, North Caucasus, Kabarda, Soviet power, white movement, civil war.
