Universal History Annotation << Back ISLAMIC EDUCATION N DAGESTAN AT THE PRESENT STAGE K.M. Alilova, Yu.M. Huseynov This article is devoted to the study of Islamic education in Dagestan at the present stage. Today, there are three stages of Islamic education: school (Maktab), secondary schools (madrassas) and higher Islamic education. According to the approved plan, the main classes are theological – 70 %, secular disciplines occupy about 30 % of all subjects. In recent decades, interest in Islamic education has increased dramatically. This was reflected in the establishment of a number of Islamic educational institutions in the Republic. Educational institutions are created in proportion to the population of the Republic. In fact, all educational institutions are controlled by the Department of education and science, established under the Muftiate of the Republic of Dagestan.
