THE ISLAMIC FACTOR IN THE INTERACTION OF THE KYRGYZ REPUBLIC AND THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION AT THE BEGINNING OF THE XXI CENTURY |
D.R. Murataliev, A.V. Beloglazov
This article is devoted to the study of the influence of the Islamic factor on the relationship between the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation at the beginning of the XXI century. The authors focus on the desire of the two states to ensure security, counter terrorism, extremism and further disseminate radical ideas. The invasion of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic was a strong impetus for further close cooperation between the two states and was reflected in the signing of the Declaration on Eternal Friendship, Alliance and Partnership. The founding of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and subsequent Agreements on the status and conditions of stay of the Russian air base on the territory of Kyrgyzstan also began to contribute to maintaining security. Despite the unconstitutional change of power in the Kyrgyz Republic in 2005 and 2010, and as a result, a sharp increase in the activity of religious organizations, Russia is beginning to make decisions to improve the activities of the CSTO and create a unifi ed Russian base in Kyrgyzstan, which suggests interest in liquidation potential instability and the Islamist threat.
