Universal History Annotation << Back THE ROLE OF MALTSOV AND MILUTIN IN THE FORMATION OF THE NEW SIMEIZ RESORT IN THE LATE XIX – BEGINNING OF XX CENTURIES A.A. Yudina, S.P. Shendrikova This article describes the history of the manor houses located on the South Coast of the Crimea in the village of Simeiz, which is now considered to be the centre of attraction for connoisseurs of architectural monuments. Until recently, the history of homesteads was of no interest for historians and local historians, but nowadays the homestead everyday life is attracting more and more attention of domestic scholars, because the Russian landlord civilization has figuratively established the Crimea as a crossroads of many cultures. Meanwhile, the study of the homestead world has, over time, encountered more obstacles due to the loss of the homesteads themselves. In view of this, the purpose of the article is to systematize the material, which will be useful for historians, regional ethnographers, art historians in the study of the development of the spa business in the Crimea, and may influence the preservation of signifi cant urban objects within the historic centre of Simeiz township in the future. This work is an attempt to analyze the history of foundation and development of Novy Simeiz during the heyday of manor-building in Russia in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Since the most important role in the formation of the architectural appearance of the Crimea played a major role in the XIX - early XX century estates, the main objective of this study is to identify the role of the family of a Russian general from Infantry Industrialists IS Maltsov and Military Minister, reformer Count DA Milyutin in the formation and formation of the village of New Simeiz, assess the influence of the latter on everyday life of the late XIX century, as well as considering the fate of old estates and their owners. This work was based on the principles of historicism, credibility and objectivity, with the help of which the estates were examined as a whole complex of historical research. The structure of the work is distinguished by its consistency and logic, with an introduction, the main part and conclusion. The scientifi c novelty of the study lies in the reconstruction of the fate of the resort New Simeiz in the late XIX - early XX centuries, which description in the historical literature replete with «white spots». Shown the history of estate life as a whole, in which the main role played by their owners, determining the appearance of the village Simeiz, it allowed to trace the historical fate of one of the sides of the Russian province. On this basis, the historical sources identified by the author, to the extent will help reveal the content of the article, can be used in the teaching of national history, culturology or regional studies, as well as contribute to the preservation of the cultural heritage of Russia.
