Universal History Annotation << Back The System of Military Medicine on the Border of the Russian Empire in the XVIII Century: on the Example of Garrisons Stationed in the North-Eastern Caucasus Chekulaev N.D., Alilov A.N., Abdusalamov M.-P. B. The article, exclusively based on the materials of the Central State Archive of the Republic of Dagestan, examines the problem of the functioning of military medicine on the example of Russian garrisons stationed in the Caucasus region. Thanks to the military records management of the imperial garrisons that has come down to our days, it becomes known how medical care was provided to the servicemen of the Russian Empire in the XVIII century. Archival documents give an idea of the property of hospitals and infi rmaries, about the rights and duties of military doctors. The documents of the Central State Administration of the RD cover all aspects of the life of military medicine: recruitment of medical personnel, payment for their labor, supply of infi rmaries and garrison hospitals with everything necessary (medicines, provisions, necessary equipment for the treatment of military ranks). It is stated that the military doctors were directly subordinate to the commandant of the garrison, and the Military College and the Medical Offi ce were the higher management. The authors note that the Russian military administration in the Caucasus and the imperial government above took all necessary measures to provide military medicine in the garrisons so that military ranks could recover and return to service. It is concluded that the fi nancing and supply of military hospitals and infi rmaries of Russian garrisons stationed in the North-Eastern Caucasus was carried out by the government in a timely manner and in full.
