Universal History Annotation << Back Transformation of the Socio-Economic Space of the Сaucasian Frontier: State Strategies and Regional Practices (Based on the Example of the Еastern Сaucasus in the 19th Century) Gazieva A.A., Gasanov M.M., Alilov A.N. Methodological developments of various components of the concept of the Caucasian borderland are relevant for modern science, since they are not suffi ciently disclosed. We are making an attempt to highlight one of the types of frontier that has taken shape in the Eastern Caucasus – the socio-economic frontier. The process of establishing socio-economic communications in the environment of the Caucasian frontier took place in parallel with the military-political conquest of the region. At the fi rst stage of the formation of this kind of communications, they were oriented towards the needs of the army, and in the subsequent period, as the region was populated, fi rst through the methods of military colonization, then through civil colonization, economic interaction developed, affecting more and more new sectors of the economy. The evolution of trade and economic relations on the Caucasian borderland was that from barter trade there was a transition to market trade, an impetus for the development of industrial production, the specialization of the region in the industrial sector of the empire.
