Abaeva Article is devoted to a problem of the classification of the caucasian ethnoses This problem has arisen at a formation dawn in Europe of anthropology as independent scientific direction. Material for this research was a series of scientifi c reports which has been published in 1837 in the magazine «Das Ausland» under the name «Russians in the Caucasus». An objective of this research is introduction to a scientifi c turnover of sources unknown to domestic caucasiologists of history and ethnography of the Caucasian people.
