Universal History Annotation << Back THE TRANSACTION CHANGING THE STORY (FOR THE 150th ANNIVERSARY OF THE SALE OF ALASKA) S.V. Belov The offered sketch is devoted to history of discovering and mastering of the Russian America by Russian pathfinders and followed then sale of Alaska by Russia to the United States of America. The reasons and the hidden mechanisms of the taken place transaction are analyzed. Its inadequate nature is especially brightly shown in present period, when in the territory of Alaska and its Arctic shelf huge volumes of the various minerals had been discovered. It’s in many respects determined present geopolitics is revealed is shown. Actions of the countries of participants of the transaction and history of USA and USSR in the XX century during a Cold War and also the current state of a problem are characterized. The conclusion is drawn that the considered historical experience once again testifies to need of the weighed system approach in case of the solution of similar geopolitical tasks.
