Universal History Annotation << Back THE MEDIA IS A POWERFUL TOOL FOR SHAPING PUBLIC CONSCIOUSNESS IN THE 50–60s OF THE XXth CENTURY (ON MATERIALS OF THE REPUBLIC OF DAGESTAN) M.-Z. M.-R. Alibekov The article considers the role of periodicals in solving the problems of technological progress, the formation of television and radio. Carrying out the resolutions of the Plenum of the regional Committee of the party (1956), the media strengthened the struggle against the remnants of the past, opened on its pages this campaign against the carriers of these remnants, strengthened scientific and atheistic propaganda. The author shows that under the control of state bodies, the problem of formation of press, radio and television was mainly solved. Despite the big problems in the formation of the media, the shortcomings are also shown. The author shows that the article had many shortcomings in the period of formation of the media, lack of facilities, equipment, specialists to work in the press, radio and television. The Russian people, who sent their specialists to Dagestan, provided great assistance in this. By the end of the 1970s, there were still many settlements in Dagestan that did not have stationary radio, press and television stations.
