GREBEN COSSACKS AT THE SERVICE OF ZASULAKI’S FEEDAL OWNERS IN THE XVIII CENTURY (ACCORDING TO THE CENTRAL STATE ARCHIVE OF THE REPUBLIC OF DAGESTAN) |
A.N. Alilov, M.-P.B. Abdusalamov
In the article, based on the materials of the Central State Archive of the Republic of Dagestan, the role of the Grebensky Cossacks in the service of the Zassulak rulers is considered. The purpose of this study is to study, analyze and introduce into scientific circulation new archival materials on Russian-Kumyk relations of the 18th century. The authors focus on the business correspondence of the Kumyk feudal lords with the Russian military administration in the Caucasus in the person of the Kizlyar commandants about the provision of guards from the Grebensky Cossacks. It was found that the Kizlyar commanders provided Cossack guards to the ambassadorial feudal lords for their personal protection and the safety of their families. It is concluded that in conditions of civil strife the Greben Cossacks in the service of the Kumyk princes were the guarantor of their protection against attacks and attacks on property by the warring parties.
