Universal History Annotation << Back DEVELOPMENT AND PRODUCTION OF LIGHTING ROCKETS IN RUSSIA AT THE BEGINNING OF THE 20th CENTURY V.V. Popova The article is devoted to the development and production of lighting rockets for the needs of the Russian army at the beginning of the 20th century. The role of lighting and signal means has increased signifi cantly with the development of night combat technology. Rockets have become one of the most effective means of transmitting light or signals. But before the designers of the early XX century. there were the same questions as in the middle of the previous century - increasing the range and accuracy of flight. The author pays special attention to the analysis of lighting rocket projects and attempts to solve some of the main technical problems of rocket artillery. The article indicates the reasons for the slowdown in the progress of domestic rocket science at the beginning of the 20th century. Keywords: lighting rockets, World War I, black powder, D.V.
