Universal History Annotation << Back Formation and Development of Scientific Cooperation of the Institutes of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences with Scientific Institutions and Foundations of the USA in 1992–1993 Dudarenok S.M. The article is devoted to the formation and development of scientific cooperation between the institutes of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and scientific institutions and foundations of the United States in the early 1990s; it characterizes the legislative framework for cooperation between American organizations and scientific foundations and institutions of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the early 1990s, the reasons for the interest of American scientific foundations and organizations in scientific areas and significant achievements of scientists of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences as well as the main areas of cooperation between the institutes of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and American scientific foundations and organizations in the early 1990s – bilateral exchanges of scientists and specialists within the framework of international programs and projects, exchange of literature and databases, participation in international conferences, symposia, joint scientifi c expeditions in Russia and the United States, preparation of joint publications, etc. The main sources for writing this article were the materials of the Scientific Archive of the Presidium of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (at the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences), primarily scientific reports, which, along with other achievements, characterize the processes of formation and development of scientific relations between the institutes of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and American scientific foundations and organizations. The methodology chosen by the author for this study includes a corporate analysis of the state of contacts of Far Eastern scientists with scientific institutions and scientific foundations of the United States in 1992-1993, the participation of various American foundations and organizations in conducting fundamental research of the institutes of the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the areas of assistance provided to Far Eastern scientists by American scientific foundations and organizations in 1992–1993. The research methodology is based on the historical and systemic method, which led to the consideration of scientific cooperation between the Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and scientific foundations of the United States in 1992–1993 as an integral phenomenon. In conclusion, it is concluded that American scientific foundations and organizations that financially supported the promising scientific research of Far Eastern scientists in the early 1990s played a certain role in the preservation of Far Eastern academic science.
