Universal History Annotation << Back Bottom Line Contraries to Fact: to the Point about Casualties of the Soviet Union in 1941–1945 Perevoshchikov D.V. The article is devoted to range of aspects of debating problem relatively general quantity of the lost citizens of the USSR in period of Great Patriotic war. A part of the archival materials was included in a science use for the fi rst time. The analogical, statistical, comparative methods and analysis appear basic instrumentality of research. The consideration of data revealing in historical sources showed that in some archival materials, German cards of Soviet Prisoners of war, recording in regional Memorial Books published in the 1990s incorrect information about a perish or missing of action of defi nite individuals contains. In reality the mentioned warriors of Red Army survived and returned home despite data about theirs demise. The mistaken content produced seriously margins in total calculation of quantity of irrevocable losses of the Soviet people in 1941–1945. The author concluded that number about 27 millions deceased Soviet citizens during Great Patriotic war raises serious doubts because among individuals who were recognized as perished or missing in action identified quite a lot survivors soldiers and officers of the Red Army.
