Universal History Annotation << Back The Legal Status of Dagestani Women in Marital and Family Relations According to the norms of Customary Law (17th–19th Centuries) Muradov M.M., Alilov A.N. This article examines the ancient traditional institution of adat in the legal culture of Dagestan. Specifically, it analyzes customary law norms regulating the moral, ethical, and legal aspects of women's behavior and family relations in the region, which played a constructive role in Dagestani society, through the lens of normatively enshrined provisions of adat. Common characteristics that represent a sociocultural refl ection of the lives of the peoples of Dagestan are highlighted.
