Universal History Annotation << Back A.L. Chizhevsky's Heliotaraxis and the World-Historical Process Belyankina V.Yu. This article examines A.L. Chizhevsky's views on the historical development of human civilization through the lens of the impact of cosmophysical factors on society. The presented theory of heliotropia is a concept that explains the influence of solar activity on the psyche and social behavior of social groups. Based on the works of the Russian scholar, the author explores the essence of the world-historical process as a simultaneously occurring social evolution in all human communities, dependent or independent of one another based on their spatial location on the globe. Emphasis is placed on a new unit of historical time – the historiometric cycle, the morphological law of historiography. The article addresses the periodization of human history and the definition of history as the interaction between man and nature. Keywords: heliotropia, historiometric cycle, A.L.
